Crochet Bracelet Preparation for Class Ann Feeley Supplies: 3 colors of size 11 seed beads. For your first project, choose high contrast colors. Trust me. This will make learning the technique much easier because you will be able to see which bead to crochet next. Thread: Several choices, but for learning, I recommend Coat's Button Craft Dual Duty Plus. It's strong and does not split easily. Choose white or a light color like gray or ecru. This makes your work easier to see. Other options include: DMC #30 crochet cotton, Gutermann topstitching weight or Jean's Stitch. Please choose one of these threads. Most others will NOT work. Steel Crochet Hook: Size 10, 11 or 12. Yes, these are very tiny hooks (about 1 mm). Most students prefer the larger size (#10) in the beginning and then go to smaller sizes as they get comfortable with the technique. [Note: Lush Beads stocks the crochet needles.] Needle to string with: Twisted wire or big eye Needle to join your bracelet: Tapestry #26 Preparation for first class: String 3.5 feet of seed beads in a 6-bead sequence. DO NOT CUT THE THREAD! This technique uses a lot of thread and you will be crocheting directly from the spool of thread. Here are four suggested sequences where A, B and C are the three colors of your seed beads: A A B B C C or A B C C B B or A B B A C C or A B B C B B Just string one of these sequences over and over until you have 3.5 feet (42 inches) of beads, which is enough to make a bracelet.
